Past tense review - writing a short story

Slide 1 - Tekstslide

By the end of this lesson, you will have written a short story using both regular and irregular verbs in the past simple tense.
Step 1: Review the rules of the regular verbs again (last chance to write them down before your SO tomorrow).
Step 2: Look at the most commonly used irregular verbs.
Step 3: Now, work in small groups (4-5students). Each person writes one sentence at a time in the past simple, then passes the paper along. Correct each other if needed.
Step 4: In the last 5 minutes, we will read the stories out loud to the class. Listen carefully and notice the past tense forms!

Now you are going to write a short story

- Write a sentence in the past tense (regular or irregular) and hand it down to the person next to you.

- Check if the person before wrote the sentence correctly and correct it if necessary

- Keep passing it on until everybody has written at least 4 sentences.

- 10 minutes before we stop I'll give you a signal to wrap up the story.

- The last few minutes will be used to read the stories out loud, choose the person who is going to read before you start writing. Listen carefully and see if you hear when the past tense is used.
