Data and information 

We give out pieces of data and information every single day,

We give it to social media, to business and websites, we give it to the government and the NHS. 

But we still need to make sure we protect this information. 

What kinds of information do we need to protect?

Private information 

There are many kinds of information we want to keep private.

• Banking details
  
• Passwords
  
• Text messages – or any app messages like whatsapp
  
• Browsing habits
  
• Emails
  
• Records about yourself – medical/student
  

How do we protect it?

Encryption is the changing of information so that it can no longer be easily understood

What is encryption?

1. Changing information so it cant be read

3. A way of preventing a virus.
