The first paragraph of an essay, which introduces the topic and indicates the focus of the essay

The most important sentence in an essay that comes at the end of the introduction. It expresses the main idea or purpose of the whole essay.

A summary of the key arguments that let the reader know how the essay will be organized

The main section of the essay where all the key ideas and supporting details are discussed.

The first sentence of a paragraph which expresses its main idea or focus

Don'ts

• Geen titel + woordenaantal = -0,25 (van het cijfer)​
• Eigen titel ≠ titel van artikel = -0,1 van het cijfer​
• Meer / minder dan woordenaantal = -0,5 (van het cijfer)​
• Geen samentrekkingen = -0,25 (van het cijfer) per samentrekking (max 1 punt aftrek)​
• Tussenkopjes = -0,25​

Aandachtspunten

Structuur: ​

• Thesis en road map waar mogelijk in één zin​
• Signaalwoorden: aan het BEGIN van de alinea, en IN de alinea ​
• Maak verbindingen tussen zinnen​
• LEER signaalwoorden (Chapter 6)
• TWEE redenen / voorbeelden per argument
• Varieer zinslengte: wissel kortere en langere zinnen af​
• Maak Engelse zinnen, vertaal geen Nederlandse zinnen

Argumentation
