Writing a Paragraph

What is a paragraph?

A paragraph is a group of sentences about a specific topic.

How to create a good paragraph

Remember to:

• Start on a new line with an indent

• Include at least four sentences

• Start with a topic sentence

• Include 2-3 sentences that give details about the topic

• End with a concluding sentence.

A paragraph must have at least four sentences

• A paragraph must have four complete sentences

• A complete sentence has a subject (noun) and a predicate (verb)

Start with a topic sentence

• Choose what topic you want to write about

• Dogs, swimming, family, friends, your favorite food

After the topic sentence

• Include 2-3 sentences that give details about the topic.

I like to read in my spare time. My favorite book is the Bible, but I also like to read books for fun. I like to learn new things through books that teach instead of Reading for just fun. Reading is calming to my mind and helps me to relax. <<<<<< 2-3 sentences that give details about my topic

Concluding sentence

End your paragraph with a concluding sentence (ending sentence).

This sentence will end the paragraph.

I like to read good books in my spare time. My favorite book is the Bible, but I also like to read books for fun. I like to learn new things through books that teach me new things. Reading books that help me be a better wife and mother are also my favorites. I like to read because it helps calm my mind and help me to relax. <<<< Concluding sentence
