The first tense and structure we will discuss are:

Will is used fot predictions that are NOT based on evidence, but on your own opinion. 

=> I think, I hope, I expect, ...

Plans and intentions = NOT fixed 

You haven't invited her yet, you haven't decided when to invite her, but you are going to do that some time in the future.

So, in a sentence without context both can be correct: The weather will be/is going to be nice

BUT

* I think the weather will be nice because it is my birthday.  => You can only use WILL here

* I have studied the weather charts. The weather is going to be nice next week. => you can only use going to here.

• Present Simple: My bus leaves at 11:30.
