Product
You must choose a product, not a service. The product has to be a sustainable product. This means that the product is good for the planet and people.

Select something that:
• You personally find interesting;
• People might really want or need;
• Is realistic to research within the time you have.

Avoid unrealistic products (for example, selling fighter jets to government leaders) — that would make your research impossible.

Target group
Your target group is the group of people you expect will buy your product.

Big companies can spend a lot of time and money to study consumers; you cannot. Therefore, limit your scope and choose one clear group.

A target group consists of people with shared characteristics, such as:
• Primary school pupils
• Teenagers
• Car owners
• Parents with young children
