What is a River?
A river is a long, flowing body of water. It moves from high places to low places.
The Source: Where Rivers Begin
The source is where a river starts. It is usually in the hills or mountains.
The Middle: The River Flows
As the river moves, it flows through wide and flat land. Trees or villages might be nearby.
The Mouth: Where Rivers End
The mouth is where the river meets a bigger body of water, like a lake or the sea.
Task: Draw a River
Draw a river on your worksheet. Label the source, middle, and mouth.
River Parts Recap
A river has three main parts: source (start), middle (journey), and mouth (end).
River Banks and Beds
The sides of the river are called banks. The bottom is called the riverbed.
