- Individual must be an Emirati National.
- Individual must be over 21 years of age.
- Applications for licensing must be submitted through the MOI app.
- Individuals may have up to 3 firearms on one license. These licenses must be applied for separately and will be approved on at the discretion of the respective authority.
- Firearm licenses are valid for a period of XX years, and must then be renewed within 30 days of the license expiring.
- Authorities will send out reminders to license holders to renew 30 days before the expiry date but it is the responsibility of the license holder to ensure that the firearm is lawfully licensed.
-Firearms held without license can result in imprisonment.
- Firearms are registered by serial numbers and must undergo ballistic fingerprint testing at the Abu Dhabi Police Ballistics authority.
- License holders may buy up to 50 rounds of ammunition per firearm licensed in any single transaction.
- Empty cases must be returned before purchasing another 50 rounds
- License holders may purchase ammunition of the following calibres:
o 9mm for pistol
o .308 for rifles,
- Firearms must be kept in a safe location/place.
- Any requests to move firearms between the license holder’s home and shooting club and/or another emirate must be submitted through the MOI app 24 hours in advance.
