AIM: At the end of this lesson, students are able to show a complete outline for the report on their first school visit (formative BO1A assignment)

        challenges for themselves in relation to their idea of the ideal teacher

SC: Students can ask for and apply specific feedback.

BO1A (formative) and BO1B (summative)

• Both assignments written in English
  
• BO1A: Formative 10 November at 5 p.m. on one school visit (see Module Guide for more info)
  
• Submitted = pass, no submission = resit (pass is needed to receive 6 credits for this module)

       The better your 1A version is, the more use you can make of the teacher feedback when 

        writing your summative assignment BO1B

• Feedback given and received based on assessment criteria
  
• You’ll use the feedback to improve and finish your assignment on the two school visits
  
• BO1B: Summative on two school visits (including compare and contrast (MG info+) 
• Due: 26 January at 5 p.m. Assessment criteria in MG and Brightspace
  
• A pass (5.5 or higher) is needed to receive 6 credits (+ pass for formative)
  

Chapter 1: Introduction +-150 words

 Describe the first school you visited in a correct and objective manner. Provide a brief, anonymous description of the teacher(s) you observed. Provide context such as the type of school, educational concept or vision on education, the town, date, subject and pupil population (and include at least one completed observation form in your appendix).

Chapter 2: the observations +-300 words

Discuss your classroom observations and what you saw teachers do outside the classroom  (include as a separate appendix)  Which teacher role or roles appealed to you the most and which the least and why. Discuss at least the roles of the methodologist and pedagogue. Explain which roles correspond the most and least with your own strengths and weaknesses and why. Explain which roles you think correspond best to your ideas of a good teacher.

Chapter 3: Observation context +-150 words

Analyse how the school context such as the school type, the educational concept or the pupil population suits you in relation to your own qualities and wishes. Would this be a school that you could see yourself teach at?. Refer to at least two concrete behavioural indicators you observed in your completed observation forms as well as to the book De zes rollen van de leraar (Slooter, 2019)

Chapter 4: Resolution +/- 200 words

In BO1b, students formulate two SMART goals for Werkplekleren 1 (WPL1) to work on/develop during their first placement experience. This has to be done on basis of the observations made at the school visit. Receiving feedback on your goal formulations which will help you create an expectation of what we look for in your goals.

In groups of 3

Review your school visit(s) and the five roles observed.  

• Describe the school visited: type of school, educational concept or vision on education, the town, date, subject, pupil population, etc.
• Describe the observed teacher in keywords. Be objective!
• Describe your observations of the 5 roles of a teacher in the lessons.

• Link your observations to theory from Slooter (2018), so look up the behavioural indicators for each role (BS also possible)
• Ask each other to elaborate if things are unclear

• Show what your strengths are and where you see challenges for yourself
• Make a(n online) poster 
  
• Present your posters to each other
