The Future Tense...

Iets in de toekomst doen...

*Als je wat van plan bent om te gaan doen gebruik je:  

am/are/is + going to + het hele werkwoord (zonder 'to')

I am going to visit my friend. 

you are going to cook dinner. 

he/she/it is going to swim this afternoon. 

We are going to take pictures of the sunset. 

they are going to do their homework at 4 p.m. 

Translate: Ik ga een cup cake maken vanmiddag.

Translate: Zij gaan naar de bioscoop dit weekend.

Will / 'll (kort) / Will not / Won't 

Will + het hele werkwoord (zal/zullen) gebruik je als je het volgende wilt aangeven: 

1. (hoop uitdrukken): I hope the Russian Invasion will end soon. 

2. (gedachte): I think they will win the match, but I'm not sure.

3. (spontane beslissing). It's raining. Oh, I'll  get my umbrella. 

4. (belofte) I promise I won't cheat on the test :D. 

5. (als-dan): If I win the lottery, I will buy a big car! 

Tips: 

Leer: hope, think, if, probably (waarschijnlijk) uit je hoofd. Dit zijn signaalwoorden voor het gebruik van 'will + het hele werkwoord'. 

KIJK GOED naar de zin: Gaat het echt om iets dat gepland staat in de toekomst? -> am/are/is + going to + hele ww  OF iets wat totaal niet gepland is /vaststaat dat het gaat gebeuren. 

(van plan) I ___________(visit) my grandmother this afternoon.

1. will visit
2. am going to visit

She hopes she _________(pass) her final exams. She has to work hard though.

2. is going to pass
