At the end of the lesson you will use the Present Continuous tense to describe actions happening now with simple sentences.

What is the Present Continuous?

The Present Continuous tense describes actions happening right now. We use it to talk about things we are doing at this moment.

Verb to be

- I → am

- He / She / It → is

- You / We / They → are


Vocabulary in Action

study + ing → studying

play + ing → playing

eat + ing → eating

read + ing → reading

write + ing → writing

run + ing → running

listen + ing → listening

sleep + ing → sleeping

Structure of Present Continuous

Subject + am/is/are + verb-ing Examples:

1. I am studying English.

2. She is reading a book.

3. They are playing soccer.

4. He is eating lunch.

5. We are writing in class.

6. My mother is cooking dinner. 

7. The children are running in the park.

8. You are listening to music.
