The rules - adjectives
Adjectives (bijvoeglijknaamwoorden) describe people and things and go in front of the word they describe:
red = adjective
red car

Adverbs (bijwoorden/ -ly words)  describe verbs (werkwoorden), adjectives (bijvoeglijknaamwoorden) and other adverbs.
Adverbs of frequency (regelmaat) tell you how often something happens
Sara never comes to school  on Friday.

Adverbs are usually placed in front of a verb.
But after a form of 'to be' (= am, is, are, was, were)
