You can use the following words with a noun:​

All/some/any/most/much/many/​

little/few/no​


Example:

Most people hate thriller films.​
No 'of':

You cannot use the words +noun and add 'of'.​

With 'most'+noun we do not use 'the'.​


Examples:

Some of people​ (WRONG!)

The most tourists (WRONG!)

Of+this/that/etc:

You can use 'of'+this/that/etc with the following words:​

All/some/any/most/much/many/​

little/few/half/none​


​Example:

None of this money is mine.
All/half:

You do not need to use 'of' after 'all' or 'half' (but you can if you are specific).​


Examples:​

All flowers are beautiful. (general)​

All of the flowers in the garden are beautiful. (specific)

You can use the following words with 'of'+pronoun:​

All/some/none/half/few/little/​

many/much/any​


​Example:

Many of my friends play football.
All/half+of+pronoun:

With the words 'all of' and 'half of' you have to use the pronoun.​


​Example:

All of us were late.​

All us were late. (WRONG!)

All + everybody/everyone:

We do not normally use 'all' to mean 'everyone/everybody'.​


​Example:

Everybody enjoyed the party (all enjoyed the party = wrong)​



But we can say 'all of us'.​


Example:

All of us enjoyed the party.​
All + everything:

You can say 'all I can' or 'all I need'. You can also say 'all about'. This instead of 'everything'.​


Examples:

I'll do all I can to help.​

I'll do everything I can to help.​



We can use 'all' to mean the only ​thing(s). ​


Examples:

All I've done is ride my bike (I haven't done anything else).

Whole:

'Whole' means 'complete' or 'entire' and is used with singular nouns.​


Example:

I've read the whole book.​



We use the/pronouns before 'whole'.​


Example:

I've lived here my whole life.
All:

We use 'all' with uncountable nouns.​


Example:

I've spent all the money.​



With time we don't use 'the' before 'all'.​


Example:

I've waited all night. (all the night = wrong)

We use 'every' to say how often things happen.​


Examples:

There's a bus every ten minutes.​

Every time I see you, you look different.
All:

We use 'all' to say 'the complete' and 'always'.​


Examples:

They are home all the time.​

We spent all day at the beach.
