When to use the present perfect?

Present perfect
  • When to use? to talk about finished actions in time up to now. Never say when exactly they happened. You can use time expressions such as for, yet, never, ever, just, already, since (fyne jas)
  • form? I/you/we/they + have + voltooid deelwoord/past participle. She/he/it + has + voltooid deelwoord/past participle
  • Examples? She has been to Italy twice.

When to use?
1. To talk about activites that started in the past and continue in time 'up-to-now'  (de nadruk ligt op de tijdsduur)
For example: You have been staring at that computer screen for hours.
2.  When we can see evidence of recent activity 
For example: The grass looks wet. Has it been raining?

Work in pairs or group of 3. Imagine that you host an exchange student. Ask your classmates at least 10 questions about his/her life as an exchange student. Swap roles. Use present perfect & present perfect continous tense. E.g:
