Comparing skeletons:
We look at skeletons in many different ways to discover as much as possible about the animal and it's past:
  • Diet
  • Movement
  • Environment
  • Time
B2-P.12-16

Slide 3 - Tekstslide

Diet:
What and animal eat influences the shape of the teeth and skull:
  • herbivore
  • carnivore
  • omnivore
B2-P.12-16

Slide 4 - Tekstslide

Movement:
How you move influences the shape your skeleton. The skeleton adapts so that the animal can move faster and better.
B2-P.12-16

Slide 5 - Tekstslide

Environment:
Animals adapt to their environment. Animals that swim have no need for long limbs.
B2-P.12-16

Slide 6 - Tekstslide

Time:
Bone stays good for long and makes great fossils.

RESEARCH PROJECT:
  • Brainstorm with your lab partner.
  • Have you completed Part 1: Introduction?
  • Have you completed Part 2: Materials and Method?
  • Have you collected all your data?
  • Is it organised in your spreadsheets?

Slide 8 - Tekstslide

Chapter 1: Introduction
  • Intro……..blah blah blah…….
  • Our Guiding Question is: ”jnjbnlhvkuvuc?” We want to know this because …. blah blah……….
  • Our Hypothesis is: “If……….., then ……………. . “ We expect this because ….. blah blah……………
  • ……..blah blah blah…….

  • (200-300 words)

Chapter 2: Materials & Method
  • Materials:
All materials used in the corrent amounts and names, you can even add pictures if you wish.

  • Method:
Instructions written in short clear sentences, no past tense!!
Step 1: Collect your materials.
Step 2:

Slide 10 - Tekstslide

Chapter 3A: Data Collection
  • Collect all measuements in tables in sheets (so you can make graphs). All tables, graphs and pictures must have 1-2 sentences of a description with them.
  • Physical observations:
Write down all physical obeservations too, and organise these in tables too.

Slide 11 - Tekstslide

Chapter 3B: Data Analysis
  • Identify if there are patterns in the data you have collected.
  • Name these patterns and compare the results.

Slide 12 - Tekstslide

Chapter 4: Conclusion, Evaluation & Discussion.
  • Conclusion:(200-300 words)
Our Guiding Question is: ”jnjbnlhvkuvuc?” and our Hypothesis is: “If……….., then ……………. . “ Our hypothesis is accepted / rejected, because……..blah blah blah…….

A Summary of the data should also be part of the conclusion. Try not to copy from the data section. Highlight key points of information from the data that are most relevant to drawing your conclusion, then elaborate with your interpretation of the data.

Slide 13 - Tekstslide

Chapter 4: Conclusion, Evaluation & Discussion.
  • Evaluation: (100-200 words)
What went well?
What could you do better next time?
What would you change?

Slide 14 - Tekstslide

Chapter 4: Conclusion, Evaluation & Discussion.
Discussion: (100-200 words)

What do you want to research further?
How would you adapt this experiment?

Slide 15 - Tekstslide

What now?
  • Start analysing your data.
  • Start making graphs.
  • Start writing your data analysis.
  • Start writing your conclusion.
  • Start writing your evaluation.
  • Start writing your discussion.

Basically complete your lab report!!
