Shared history
  • The Jewish people share a history together. These historical origins are considered to be very important.
  • This shared history is one of the hallmarks of Judaism: no other religion stresses the importance of history this much.
  • This has to do with the two concepts of Judaism:
  1. Judaism as a monotheistic religion
  2. Judaism as a group of people (a nation)

Slide 3 - Tekstslide

Two concepts of Judaism
  • The community of Judaism is defined by two concepts:
  1. Judaism as a monotheistic religion
  2. Judaism as a group of people (a nation)
  • A monotheistic religion consists in the belief in one God, who is rendered to be supremely powerful, supremely good and supremely all-knowing.
  • A nation is a group of people with shared features.
