This is called the imperative.
It's used to:
  • give advice
  • make commands
  • give instruction
  • make a request
In short: you tell someone what they should  do

  • to eat > Eat that sandwich 
  • to touch > Don't touch your phone 
  • to use > Don't use too much salt 
  • to throw: Throw it against the wall.

You don't have to change the word! :D
place "Don't" in front of it to make it negative.

you use the gerund when talking about an action
you are not actually doing it.

It is not a gerund if you are talking about actually doing the action:
