Our World and the Solar System

What do you already know about our world and the planets?

What will we learn today?

At the end of the lesson you will be able to name the continents and oceans, list the planets in our solar system, and describe the vastness of God's creation.

On Wednesday, we will create a model of the solar system!

The Seven Continents

There are seven continents on Earth: Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania (Australia), and South America.

Please work with your table group and sketch a map!

The World's Oceans

There are five main oceans: Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Southern, and Arctic. Can you find them on the map?

Our Place in Space

Earth is part of the solar system, which is much bigger than our planet. It shows how amazing and vast God's creation is.

What is a star?

1

A massive sphere of gas, mostly hydrogen and helium

2

A natural satellite composed of iron and other minerals

Write down 3 facts about a planet!

About GOD

About STARS or the SOLAR SYSTEM

Name something from the video:

The Planets in Order

The planets from the Sun are: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune. Try to remember them in order!

Wonder and Bible Verses

Psalm 19:1: 'The heavens declare the glory of God.' Remember how amazing our planet and the solar system are!

Isaiah 40:26 'Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens. Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.'

Let’s Build a Solar System Model!
