Literature in the 20th century

When it comes to literature in the 20th century, much of it was inspired by the World Wars, while in the second half of the century it was much more focused on new social groups and identities. Lots of new styles and genres were created when writing and publishing became easier and cheaper. 

Gothic novels -> Horror Fiction

No longer focused on the supernatural, but more brutal and bloody. The most important author is Stephen King. New genres include the Zombie genre and the Slasher genre.
