La Navidad  was destroyed 

After Columbus came Amerigo Vespucci

He dicovered The New World 

This New world was named after Vespucci

Conquistadores:  Brave, tough men obsessed by wealth & power

Conquered large parts of Central, South America and Cuba, waging a cruel war on the Indian population.

Aztec capital

Cortés discovered highly civilised societies. These city-states proposed attacking the Aztec capital together. Their leader Montezuma was killed. A new city arose, Mexico.

The extinction of the Incas and Aztecs

Incas and Aztecs had larger armies

But, no horses, steel or firearms such as cannons

Indians were weakened by epidemics and foreign diseases
