Where is Norway?
Norway is in northern Europe. It is close to the Arctic Circle and east of the UK and Ireland.

Oslo is a modern city by the sea. People in Oslo speak Norwegian. It is a centre for culture and government.
Norway’s Natural Wonders
Norway is famous for its fjords—long, narrow sea inlets with steep sides. The country also has high mountains, dense forests, and a long coastline.

Scandinavia
Scandinavia is a region in northern Europe made up of the countries Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. Long ago, the people who lived there were called Vikings.
The Vikings founded some important Irish towns, including Dublin. Today, Scandinavia is peaceful, but its Viking history is still an important part of its culture.
Galdhøpiggen, standing at 2,469 meters (8,100 feet), is the tallest mountain in Norway and Northern Europe.
Also known as the Glåma, the Glomma is not only the longest but also the biggest river in Norway. The source of this massive river is at Røros while the mouth is at Fredrikstad, Norway. This river has a massive drainage basin of about 16,000 square miles, which is at least 13% of the country’s surface area.
