You use much and many to indicate that there is more than one of something. Or even to indicate that there's lots of it.

for instance: I have many books.

countable ones and uncountable ones.

countable ones and uncountable ones.
Countable (telbaar) are nouns you can count. 

Books, cars, shoes, dogs and so on.
DUH!
Uncountable nouns are nouns you can't count.

Water, love, traffic, smoke and so on.
notice how these nouns have plurals and singulars!

We use MUCH for the uncountable nouns.


# I have so much work to do.
# There's so much love in the world.
# There was too much traffic to get here in time.

You use many when you can count the nouns.

# He has many pairs of shoes.
# There are many stars in the universe.

# My grandma has many children.
It's really hard but you can count the stars...

You can also use them in a negative or interrogative way.

# I don't  have much time.
# Does he read many books?
# How much money do you have? 
huh?! But you can count money, can't you? No! You can count the notes and the coins!
