Adverbs

An adverb (bijwoord) refers to a verb, an adjective or another adverb. Most adverbs are formed by adding -ly to an adjective.

She worked accurately.

It was extremely hot.

He worked extremely accurately.

Exceptions I

• The adverb of "good" is "well":

She's a very good singer. <-> She sings very well.

• fast, hard, soon, late, early - no change!!

“this exercise is hard.” <-> “He works hard.”

"My father has a fast car." <-> "My father drives very fast."

Exceptions II

• After look, feel, taste, smell, sound

use the same form as the adjective:

"The soup tastes good" 

"Wow! did you get a new haircut? You look beautiful!"

"Have you ever seen 'The Nanny'? She sounds horrible!"

"Phew! You smell bad. You should take a shower!"

Important!

Much / many = ontkennend + vragende zinnen

a lot of = bevestigende zinnen

Examples:  

Bevestigend: I have a lot of time

Ontkennend : I don't have much time

Vragend:  Do you have much time?
