Learning Goals

Modulebook - Lectures

- There are only 4 lectures, including this one!

   - They take place in week 1 (now), week 2, week 3 and week 6.

   - The next lectures will discuss ERD, SQL and Normalisation

- As of now there are a bit more lectures scheduled than we will actually use. I will fix that ASAP.

Modulebook - Testing

- In week 9 there is a written exam

   - This means --> Pen and paper.

   - Your book is allowed, notes are not. PDF book is considered          notes.

- Entering the exam is based on your participation and your attendancy

Modulebook - Assignments

- Weekly assignments are stated in your Modulebook

- Module has the correct assignment. Please do these ones.

- The assignments in the modulebook are not mandatory. 

   - They are an extra resource to be used as extra practice.

   - The assignments during tutorials are mandatory.

Modulebook - Attendancy

- There is a 75% attendancy rate in this module. 

- This module has 6 scheduled tutorials and 2 open tutorials

- You are allowed to miss 2 tutorials, this includes being sick.

- Miss more then 2 tutorials and you cannot attend the exam.

- To attend the resit in the next period, an alternate assignment has to be handed in.

Modulebook - Participation

- An active participation is expected during the tutorials.

   - Preparation and participation

- If I feel that there is a student not participating, I will aks that student to leave. 

- This will be marked as the student being absent.

Databases is an obligatory 1st yr subject.

- Resit: Next period. But there will be no classes!

Modulebook - (Scheduled) Tutorials

- Tutorials will have a specific assignment for that subject. 

- These assignments are mandatory.

- All tutorials will start with a moment to discuss assignments from the book. This is your chance for feedback.

- Be prepared for these tutorials. Be able to ask and answer relevant questions. 

Modulebook - (Open) Tutorials

- These tutorials will be designed by you. Each group gets 1.

- Design a workshop, practice exam or whatever you'd like.

    - Be creative and try your hand at teaching the class.

- The open tutorial has to be sufficiently prepared or you will not get to take the exam. 

- An alternate assignment can be done to make up for a failed tutorial.
