Pitfalls are common mistakes (veelgemaakte fouten) in English.

Two, To or Too?

• Two: 2
• To: action towards something/someone
• Too: also, as well / more than enough

Two, To or Too?

To: naar / om te / aan / te (vóór werkwoord)

• "I am going to the party."
• "You go to school to learn."
• "It was sent to me."
• "She works to earn money."

Two, To or Too?

Too: ook / te (vóór bijwoord)

• "Are you going to the party too?"
• "He drank too much."
• "They are talking too loud, it's annoying."

Then or Than?

• Then: when                                                                           - "I had a red car back then"                                                 - "Turn left, then right"

• Than: comparatives/comparisons                                   - "He is taller than you"                                                         - "He ran faster than yesterday"

It's or Its?

• It's: It is                                                                               - "I hate maths, it's so difficult."

• Its: bezittelijk vnw (van iets/iemand)                               - "I have a cat. Its fur is black and very shiny"

There, their or they're?

• There: daar / er                                                                  - "Have you been there before?"

• their: bezittelijk voornaamwoord                                      - "It's not my house, it's their house"

• They're: they are                                                                  - "They're my best friends"

Your or you're?

• Your: bezittelijk voornaamwoord                                     - "Have you finished your homework?"

• You're: you are                                                                   - "You're too late!"

Where, were or we're?

• Where: waar                                                                        - "Where are you going?"

• were: was / waren (verleden tijd van to be)                    - "There were lots of people at the concert"

• We're: we are                                                                        - "Oh no! We're too late!"

Whose or who's?

• Whose: wiens (betrekkelijk of vragend vnw)                  - "Whose book is this?"                                                          - "The boy whose mum works here is my classmate."

• Who's: who is                                                                    - "Who's coming to the party?"
