Grammar explanation

*We are going to talk about the past simple tense of the verb "To be" which means "zijn"

*We are first going to repeat the verb "to be" in present simple tense, just to be sure.

*After that, I will explain how the past simple tense works

To be: Present simple

*The verb "to be" means "zijn". 

*To be is an irregular verb, which means that it doesn't listen to any grammar rules.

*To be in the present time has 3 different forms.

Name all 3 forms of to be in the present tense.

Make 3 sentences, using all 3 forms of to be in the present tense.

To be: the past simple tense

*Remember, "to be" counts as an irregular verb, meaning that the past tense of "to be" doesn't end in -ed.

*In the simple past, to be has 2 forms, meaning that you have to name both forms when asked!
