Formal letter writing

Write a formal letter of 150 words to the General Manager of:
Restaurant Sweet Tooth, 101 Pie Lane, KOC2JO Williamstown, Ontario

  • You had dinner at the restaurant on October 31st.
  • You found several black hairs in your soup.
  • You mentioned the problem, but the waiter didn't offer you a discount or any form of courtesy. You request a refund for the soup and a discount on your next meal at the restaurant. ("It seems fair to me that a discount would be in order here due to the lack of courtesy")

I am writing to you to complain about an incident that occurred during dinner at your restaurant on October 31st of this year.

I was enjoying a lovely dinner with my friend, starting with a delicious pumpkin soup, or so we thought. However, after three spoonfuls of soup, I noticed three black hairs floating in my soup. Naturally I refused to eat any further as the black hairs not only put me off, but could also clog my throat. My friend and I called on the waiter to help us out. We expected him to serve a new plate of soup and at least offer us a discount. Instead the waiter was rather rude to us: he picked out the hairs from my plate and told me to continue eating. As you can imagine, I was flabbergasted. It seems only fair to me that a refund for the soup would be in order here as well as a discount on the next meal in your restaurant.

I would appreciate it if this matter could be resolved swiftly. After all, I have been a long-time customer and I would like to remain so.

I look forward to hearing from you shortly.

Yours faithfully,

Formal letter writing
Dear Mr and Mrs B,

I'm writing this letter to complain about the pocket money decrease you suggested and I want to convince you to increase my pocket money instead!

As I recall from last week, you sent me a letter regarding you wanting to reduce my pocket money, but I think that is not a great idea and I will explain why. The reason why I think my pocket money should be increased is that I need money for trips with my friends, which is very important to me and my social life. Because I am in boarding school, I do not have a lot of spare time to do leisure activities. I also think I should get more pocket money because I need more for my cultural education.

I would appreciated it you could come back to me over the increase of my pocket money. We can talk over the phone about this, or you can send me a letter.
