• Pope Urban II called for a Crusade in 1095. It's a holy war.
• Jerusalem was ruled by Muslim leaders for centuries.
• A new tribe the Seljucs took over. They also threatend the Eastern Roman Empire. 

The Emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire asked for help!
