1. Comparatives compare one thing, person or action to another.
   - Ian is friendlier than Dana
   - My new flat is nicer than my old one.

2. Than is often used after a comparative
   - Neil is older than Ali.
   - The Royal Hotel is more expensive than the 
     Economotel. 

3.  Much/a lot can come before a comparative to give emphasis.
   - Paris is much more beautiful than Manchester.
   - She's a lot taller than her brother.

4. We use superlatives to compare one person or thing to a     
     whole group.
   - I am the youngest in my family.
   - Everest is the highest mountain in the world.

4. 'The' is always placed before a superlative
   - Jason is the oldest son.
   - Lionel Messi is the best football player in the world.

6. As.....as shows that something is the same or equal. 
    - Lisa is as clever as you.
    - My new neighbour is as friendly as the old one. 

7. Not as.....as shows something isn't the same or equal.
