  • Survey (1 -2 minutes) – highlight or write down important titles, subheadings and information carrying words (e.g. look for capital letters to find the names of people or places.
  • Question: Turn the above into questions.
  • Read: As you read, write answers to your questions
  • Recite: Recall what was read verbally or in writing
  • Review: Look over notes/read it again and try to connect to experience/other learning.

  • Read: As you read, write answers to your questions
  • Recite: Recall what was read verbally (to the person beside you)  or in writing
  • Review: Look over notes/read it again and try to connect to experience/other learning.
  • Use the SQ3R handout or write your notes on the page (use post-it notes if this helps)
