Why do we use an imperative?
The imperative is used to give directions and orders, and to advise and warn people. 

To make an imperative, you use the infinitive form of the verb.

use DON'T or DO NOT before your verb.

Present Continuous
What is it?

You use the present continuous to say that something is happening right now. Words and phrases that are often used with the present continuous are: Look! Listen! at the moment, right now, this instant.

You also use the present continuous to describe activities that last longer.

  • I​'m reading a wonderful book.
  • We are cooking dinner.


  • You can also use the present continuous to express annoyance or irritation. Then you use words like always, still, again.
  • You are always singing so loudly!
  • She is still writing texts on her phone!
