This course provides five lessons on pollution in the ocean.  The aim is to learn about the types of pollution and the impacts on marine species, long term impacts in general and how to tackle these issues.
Lesson 1 - What types of pollution are in the ocean?

Slide 2 - Slide

This lesson discusses the types of pollution finding their way into the ocean. For example, solid pollution, water pollution and noise pollution.

Learning activities:
    Research and discussions regarding what kind of pollution students create at home.
    Identifying types of plastics and chemicals.

Lesson 2 - Microplastics - how do plastics break up?

Slide 3 - Slide

This lesson looks at how plastics and other materials break up. Understand the terms compostable, biodegradable and degradable.

Learning activities:
    Research what microplastics can be found at home and look at alternatives to replace them.
    Experiment to see how long plastics last in the ocean.

Lesson 3 - How does pollution impact marine wildlife?

Slide 4 - Slide

This lesson discusses how the different types of pollution impact marine wildlife.

Learning activities:
    Research the impacts of oil spills or entanglements.
    Create posters to encourage people to stop using plastics.

Lesson 4 - What are the long term impacts of pollution?

This lesson looks at the long term impacts of pollution left in the ocean.

Learning activities:
    Research impacts of ghostnets.
    Create posters to explain impacts of ghostnets.

Lesson 5 - How do we tackle the problem?

This lesson discusses the ways in which we can tackle the issue of pollution.

Learning activities:
    Research and discuss ways to reduce plastic pollution.
    Identify ways to create change.
