Grammar: Passive voice
Je gebruikt de lijdende vorm (passive) om aan te geven wat er gebeurt. Het is niet belangrijk wie het doet.
You are advised to tell someone where you're going.
These photos were posted online yesterday.

Je maakt de passive met een vorm van to be + voltooid deelwoord (3e rijtje). Welke vorm to be heeft, hangt af van de tijd van de zin:
present simple passive: am, is of are (word(t) / worden) + voltooid deelwoord
I'm often sent messages late at night.
English is spoken (by millions of people) all over the world.

past simple passive: was of were (werd / werden) + voltooid deelwoord
This photo was taken last summer.
They weren't invited to the party.

Grammar: Passive voice
Om van een active zin een passive zin te maken:

- maak je van het lijdend of meewerkend voorwerp (wat?) een onderwerp;
- voeg je een vorm van to be toe voor het hoofdwerkwoord;
- maak je van het hoofdwerkwoord een voltooid deelwoord;
- kun je het onderwerp (door wie) achter by zetten achter aan de zin.
