Passief = tegenovergestelde van actief: 

The neighbour usually washes the car. 
The German team beat the Dutch team. 
My sister walked the dog.

Actief: The neighbour washes the car.  (de buurman wast de auto)

Passief: *The car is washed by the neighbour. (de auto wordt gewassen door de buurman)

Van actief naar passief
stap 1: gebruik am/are/is 
stap 2: gebruik het voltooid deelwoord (werkwoord + ed  of de derde vorm onregelmatige werkwoorden: bitten/seen/done)
stap 3: zet er dan 'by' achter + het lijdend voorwerp (my father, the neighbour, my sister)
