Why use it? 

How to make a passive sentence? 

We use it when...

we talk about processes - produced, made, built

it's not important, or we don't know, WHO does something

the ACTION  is important. 

HOW TO MAKE A PASSIVE SENTENCE:

the correct form of the verb 'to be' + past participle
