You are going to try and find out who is guilty by answering questions using the past continuous

At four o'clock I was having a bath

At four o'clock I was having an argument with my wife. 

Listen very carefully: What is important? 

You're all staying at the Empire City Hotel. Sophie Hatcher, a famous model, is staying there too. At 3.55 p.m Sophie left her room. She didn't close the door. She came back at 4.45 pm and her purse with all her money and credit cards wasn't there! She called the manager of the hotel and he has put everyone who is staying in the hotel in this meeting room. One of you stole Sophie's money! 

Help the police find out who it was

You are all characters in this mystery and you have to find out who stole Sophie Hatcher's money. 

What sort of questions do you need to ask?: 

• What's your name?
• What do you do?
• Why are you in the hotel? 
• What were you doing at ......?

You all need to tell the truth except for the thief!

The police are interested in two times: four o'clock and 4.30

Instructions: 

• You mustn't show your cards to other students! 
• Get in three large groups. (The teacher will say who is in your group!)
• One student in each group needs to play the thief - 
• You have a few minutes to look at your card and think about your answers to the questions on slide-You must tell the truth
• Thief: This gives you time to invent one lie! PLUS..... maybe give a fake name as people might remember the name from last time around!
