We use the present simple when we talk about:

  • Facts/feiten: Things that are always true. Dingen die altijd waar zijn
     Snow is cold. You have two hands.
  • Habits/gewoontes: 
     Signal words: always, never, sometimes, every week etc. 
      I always walk to school. I never drink coffee.
  • Regularity/regelmaat
    I hang out with my friends often.
