What are adjectives(1) and adverbs(2)?

1. 1 bijvoeglijk voornaamwoorden, 2 bijwoorden
2. 1 bijwoorden, 2 bijvoeglijk voornaamwoorden
3. 1 zelfstandig naamwoorden, 2 werkwoorden
4. 1 werkwoorden, 2 zelfstandig naamwoorden

Adjectives and adverbs
The garden is .....

1. beautifully
2. beautiful

The garden is beatiful

because "beautiful" = adjective says 

something about "the garden" = zelfstandignaamwoord

Adjectives and adverbs
It tastes ....

1. good
2. well

It tastes good.

because "good" = adjective says 

something about "tastes" which is a verb of the senses

Adjectives and adverbs
She skates ....

1. fastly
2. fast

She skates fast

because "fast" = adverb says something about "skates" = verb, but "fast" is irregular. So, don't add '-ly'

Adjectives and adverbs
She sings.....

1. beautiful
2. beautifully

She sings beautifully.

because "beautifully" = adverb says 

something about "sings = verb. So, add ' -ly'.

Hopefully, it is clear now what adjectives and adverbs are.

Now we turn to making comparisons with adjectives.
