  1. Off-the-peg clothing = clothing produced in large numbers and sent to stores (not for 1 particular person -> custom-made)
  2. To slap down on (misbehaving students) = to take tough measures against, to severely criticize
  3. Refuse (lying around in the streets) = garbage
  4. To defy someone's wishes, orders etc. = to go against (someone's wishes, orders etc.)
  5. Accomplice = a person who helps another commit a crime
  6. To discharge (a cannon, gun) = to fire, to shoot
  7. To launch (a project, your career) = to start
  8. Two's a company, three is a crowd = A way of asking a third person to leave because you want to be alone with someone. (Often implies that you want to be alone with the person because you are romantically interested in him or her.) Also: third wheeling
  9. A barrage of questions = a great number of questions suddenly directed at someone
  10. Adornment = decoration

I do the dishes every night. -> SVOPT 

The dishes are done by me every night -> Object + form of to be + third form

Active -> Passive:
1) what is the object in the active sentence
2) put object first
3) what is the tense of the verb in the active sentence
4) the tense of to be = tense of verb in active sentence; adjust form of to be; add 3rd form verb
