Question type 1: 'To be' (zijn)
(Structure: verb to be + subject)
She is/was old - Is/Was she old?

Question type 2 'Modal verb' (hulpwerkwoord):
(Structure: modal verb + subject + main verb)
You can/could speak French well - Can/could you speak French well?

PAY ATTENTION:
  • No -s after verb in he/she/it structure (Does she knows me?) in present tense
  • No past tense verb after 'did' structure (Did she knew know me?) in past tense

Structure options
1 Interrogative pronoun (with rest of sentence) + form to be + rest sentence

3 Interrogative pronoun + first modal verb + verb (with rest of sentence. Can be accompanied by yet another modal verb.
