Je gebruikt may en might:
1. wanneer je niet zeker van iets bent.
2. wanneer je vraagt om toestemming of toestemming geeft.

Om een hulpwerkwoord ontkennend te maken (dus met het woord 'not') zet je het woordje not of n't achter het hulpwerkwoord.

I can't/cannot eat this anymore.
You shouldn't/should not eat yellow snow.
He couldn't pick out an outfit to wear.

to be able to --> zet not achter de vorm van to be.
(They weren't able to catch the train in time.)
