Activate prior knowledge
The teacher activates relevant prior knowledge by means of a review assignment, possibly using the home languages. In this way, the teacher offers a framework for connecting new material to previously learned material and providing direction for the further course of the lesson. At the same time, this makes students' misconceptions visible, which the teacher can then respond to in a targeted manner.
If the weather is fine, we will go for a walk.
