De Past Simple gebruik je vooral als je het hebt over simpele feitjes uit het verleden: je hebt toen iets gedaan.

De Past Continuous benadrukt meer dat de actie een tijdje duurde; je was iets aan het doen. Vaak komt er dan een zin met when/while achteraan, om zo te laten zien dat het een gebeurde tijdens het ander.
