Grammar

Lexical verbs are main verbs that show the action or state.

Auxiliary verbs are helping verbs that can show additional information such as tense.

Keep in mind: In any sentence, there can only be one lexical verb, but there can be more auxiliary verbs.

I rang my friend.

I was ringing my friend.

He is cooking.

For example:

We watched.

We have watched.

We would have watched.

We would have been watched.

We would have been being watched.
