Vorm:

am/are/is (vorm van to be) + (werkwoord + ing)

Future

Er zijn vier verschillende manieren om de toekomst  aan te geven in het Engels:

1. Present continuous

2. To be going to
3. Shall/Will
4. Present simple

Future > 1 present continuous

Gebruik: om te praten over afspraken in de nabije toekomst waarvan de tijd/plaats al vaststaat.


He is leaving for New Zealand tomorrow.
I'm meeting Susan at the train station.

Future > 2 to be going to

Gebruik:
- als iemand iets in de toekomst (niet) van plan is
- een voorspelling doen waarvoor je bewijs hebt.


Vorm:
am/are/is (vorm van to be) + going to + hele werkwoord

Examples:


Look! He is going to fall off his bike!
Look at those dark clouds. It is going to rain. 
I am not going to hike tomorrow. I am too tired to hike.

Gebruik:
- om iets aan te bieden
- bij beloftes
- bij aankondigingen
- bij besluiten
- voorspellingen doen waarvoor je geen bewijs hebt.

Vorm:

Bij vragen waar je I en We gebruikt, moet je shall gebruiken.
Shall we go by taxi?

In alle andere vragen gebruik je will
Will they buy a new house?

In een bevestigende of ontkennende zin gebruik je alleen will.

Daarna volgt het hele werkwoord.
I will come to your party. I promise.


In ontkenningen voeg je not toe aan will.
will + not = won't
He won't come to school as he is ill.

Gebruik: als er sprake is van een vast schema, zoals aankomst- en vertrektijden, openings- en sluitingstijden, begin- en eindtijden.

Vorm:
1. hele werkwoord bij I, you, we, you, they
2. ww + s bij he, she, it.
