For example, in May of this year chatbots claimed that Pope Francis was still working, even though he had died in April. Chatbots also frequently cite odd sources and link to articles unrelated to the topic. In the study, journalists asked four chatbots more than three thousand questions and checked their answers. In almost half of the cases the bots provided incorrect responses. A senior Google executive has warned that people should not rely blindly on answers from chatbots. The organization that commissioned the study is calling on the European Union to enforce AI regulations more effectively and says an independent body should regularly monitor chatbots.
