The rules in my classroom

• Phones are in your bag
• Don't be late
• You have your laptop charged and with you
• Your homework is done
• You don't talk through the instructions
• You have respect for me and for other students
• (so the usual stuff)

What the consequences?

• For minor infractions you can get a red cross
• If you have three red crosses we will have a talk to decide a solution together
• For major infractions you can still get a yellow card

There are fun things too!

• You can earn green checkmarks as well
• You can earn a green checkmark for getting a 9, for winning some quizzes, and for other good things
• Green checkmarks don't cancel out red crosses
• The person with the most green checkmarks wins a bag of sweets at the end of the year (Or do you have other suggestions?)

Why this system?

• Everybody can have a bad day sometimes
• I believe in second chances
  
• I'd prefer not to be a policeman in my classroom

English in the classroom

• Instructions are in English
  
• Try to ask your question in English if possible
• If it is really necessary I can explain things in Dutch as well
• Tests are in English, but with Dutch 'subtitles'
• If you know the answer in Dutch, but not in English you can answer in Dutch

Topography game

• I choose a random student
• That student tells about where they went on vacation
• After that another students colors that country in on the map
• Then that students tells where they went on vacation
