Conditionals

Zero Conditional

Voor feiten 

(Wanneer A gebeurt is B altijd het gevolg)

If kan vervangen worden door when

If you eat junkfood, you gain weight.

Ice melts if you heat it.

First Conditional

Voor dingen die  zeer waarschijnlijk gaan gebeuren 

(Als A gebeurt dan is B zeer waarschijnlijk het gevolg)

If I call my mum to come pick me up, she will be here in about half an hour.

Will you go home early if it rains later?

If I get home early, I will watch some television.

1. If + present simple ,.... will (not) + hele werkwoord
2. will not + hele werkwoord ...... if + present simple

Second Conditional

Voor dingen die vrijwel zeker niet gaan gebeuren  (10% kans) of hypothetische situaties

(Als A zou gebeuren dan zou B het gevolg zijn)

If I won the lottery, I would buy a new house for my parents.

Would you forget about us if you became famous?

If I were a millionaire, I would retire.

1. If + past simple ,.... would (not) + hele werkwoord
2. Would not + hele werkwoord ...... if + past simple

Third Conditional

Voor dingen die niet gebeurd zijn in het verleden 

(Als A gebeurd was dan was B het gevolg geweest)

If I had brought my controller, we would have played this game together.

Would you have listened if I had told you earlier?

If I had known better, I would have studied more for this test.

1. If + past perfect ,.... would (not) have + volt dw
2. would (not) have + volt dw.... if + past perfect
