First Punic War

- Rome built a strong fleet to defeat Carthage at sea.

-  Rome won after years of fighting.

- Sicily became Rome's first overseas province.

Second Punic war

- Carthaginians wanted revenge.

- Hannibal had a brilliant plan to invade Italy.

- More than 20.000 soldiers and 60 elephants.

Second Punic war

- Romans attacked Carthaginian Empire in Spain & North-Africa. 

- Hannibal was forced to go home to defend his city.

- Hannibal was defeated at Carthage and Romans won.

Third Punic War

- Carthage was very weak after Second Punic war.

- Group of senators wanted to destroy Carthage.

- Cato said: "By the way, I believe that Carthage should be destroyed"

Third Punic war

- Romans found an excuse to attack Carthage. 

- After two years Rome invaded the city and destroyed it.

- 50.000 Carthaginians were imprisoned and sold as slaves.
