- I stepped into poop when I was walking my dog
- I was paying attention when my friend started to distract me

"I was walking to school when I saw my friend"

persoonsvorm + was/were + ww-ing

I/he/she/it = was
you/we/they = were

Gebruik past continuous ook in de volgende situaties:

- een actie vond plaats voor en na een specifieke tijd
- ging een tijd lang door in het verleden
- laat zien dat iets veranderd/verbeterd
- gebeurde heel vaak in het verleden
